Bharatpur: Roof of govt school collapses
Bharatpur, March 2 -- The roof of a class room in a government school suddenly collapsed while the students went out to play during lunch time in Bharatpur district, officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place in village Nagla Bhagat of Sunhari gram panchayat under Bharatpur sub-division on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
During lunch time, when the students went out, the roof of the classroom suddenly collapsed.
The Mahatma Gandhi Government School has five rooms with 28 enrolment and seven teachers including a principal.
School principal Kavita Devi said that there was no need to inform senior officials for repairs as no room in the school was dilapidated.
"Such an incident suddenly took place which was not expected," she said.
Sunhari gram panchayat sarpanch, Guddan Devi, said, "The classroom's corridor was old and the roof collapsed. It was the good luck of students that there was no one inside the building during the incident."
A villager, Monu Foujdar, said that even after the Jhalawar incident the government and local administration didn't learn their lesson. "The students would have lost their lives if the roof collapsed before lunch time."
HT reached out to SDM of Bharatpur, Bharti Gupta, but could not get any response....
