Jaipur, April 18 -- The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has busted an alleged illegal Aadhaar card racket operating in Hanumangarh district, arresting the main accused Kuldeep Sharma from an unauthorised enrolment centre in Bhadra, officials said on Friday. ADG, ATS and AGTF Dinesh MN said that acting on specific intelligence received by the ATS Jaipur unit, a joint team of ATS and Bhadra police raided an illegal Aadhaar centre located near the municipal area. According to officials, the operation was executed under the supervision of IG Rajesh Singh and DIG Yogesh Yadav, with SP Gyan Chand Yadav leading the ground team. Dinesh MN said, "Investigations revealed a highly sophisticated modus operandi, where the accused was generating Aadhaar cards using fake biometric data. Kuldeep Sharma was allegedly misusing operator IDs issued in the names of two individuals - Jaswant and Aamir Khan - to carry out illegal enrolments." During the raid, police recovered rubber-based "dummy fingerprints" in red and white colours, which were used to bypass biometric authentication systems. The accused had also kept printed images of eye retinas, which were placed before iris scanning devices to deceive the system. The accused himself forged signatures of the registered operators on enrolment receipts, indicating a well-planned fraud network, he said. The ATS probe has revealed that such fraudulently generated Aadhaar cards could have been used for serious offences, including anti-national activities, procurement of fake SIM cards, and opening of bank accounts for cyber fraud. Police seized a laptop, printer, iris scanner, palm fingerprint device, GPS device, fingerprint dye, camera and the accused's mobile phone from the spot. A case has been registered against Kuldeep Sharma under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. Following the arrest, the accused is being interrogated by a joint ATS-police team, officials said, adding that investigators are now identifying individuals who may have obtained fake Aadhaar cards through this racket....
