Jaipur, April 14 -- The state legislative assembly on Monday received a bomb threat, prompting massive security checks and the arrival of two senior Congress leaders, police said. The high court premises and the sessions court were also targeted separately, they added. A senior officer involved in the search said that nothing suspicious was recovered, and declared the threats to be hoaxes. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot of Leader of Opposition, Tikaram Jully, both reached assembly premises after the threat was reported, but were denied entry. Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Gehlot termed the situation "extremely serious" and alleged lack of action. "Threats have been issued to the High Court and other courts multiple times, but what are the government and police administration doing?" "Even the chief minister has received threats, yet no action is visible. It is a grave matter that even the assembly is being threatened," he added. Jully echoed Gehlot's concerns, alleging deteriorating law and order across the state. "Every time such a threat comes, panic spreads, work gets disrupted and the police administration is engaged. This is happening repeatedly," he said, adding that the government failed to cacth those responsible despite making big claims. "I urge the chief minister and the Union home minister to take control as the situation in Rajasthan is deteriorating and crimes like rape, fraud and cyber fraud are becoming common," he added. Assembly speaker Vasudev Devnani said he immediately informed the state director general of police after being informed of the threat. He added that cyber agencies are investigating the source of the email. Responding to Gehlot and Jully's comments, BJP state spokesperson Ram Lal Sharma said that the government was serious in its approach to crime of any nature and strict action was being taken on the threats.
