Jaipur, July 28 -- The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, will field candidates in the upcoming Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body elections in Rajasthan. This will be the first time the party officially contests local body and Panchayati Raj elections in the state with its own and endorsed candidates.
AIMIM state spokesperson Advocate Arif Mohammad told media that the party's Rajasthan unit will soon launch an extensive public outreach campaign across the state as part of its election preparations. He further said that the state leadership has prepared a detailed roadmap to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
According to Mohammad, the campaign aims to improve coordination between district-level organisational units and mobilise party workers. The party plans to identify and field candidates who have strong public support at the district, ward and local levels.
The decision follows a meeting between AIMIM Rajasthan president Jameel Khan and party chief Asaduddin Owaisi last Saturday, during which they reviewed the political situation in Rajasthan.
During the meeting, Owaisi approved the state unit's proposal to contest the upcoming Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body elections, giving the party the go-ahead to begin preparations, said Muhammad....
