90-yr-old man duped of Rs.9 lakh in 3 years: police
JAIPUR, Aug. 10 -- A 90-year-old man was allegedly blackmailed and extorted of around Rs.9 lakh over three years by fraudsters posing as employees of a matrimonial service, police said on Sunday.
The incident came to light after the victim's 69-year-old son approached Mahesh Nagar police station on Saturday and lodged a complaint, alleging that the accused had been threatening to defame his father and implicate him in false cases.
ASI Kailash Chand said the elderly man received a call in 2022 from unidentified persons claiming to be employees of a company called ShaadiCenter.com.
During subsequent conversations, the callers allegedly lured him into their trap and later began threatening to implicate him in false cases.
Police said the accused allegedly threatened to defame the elderly man and repeatedly demanded money from him, who spent Rs.9 lakh on the case....
