6 of Haryana family killed as their car collides with truck in Bikaner
Bikaner, June 16 -- Six members of a family from Haryana's Fatehabad district were killed and an 18-month-old girl was critically injured after their car collided head-on with a truck near Hemasar village in Bikaner's Shri Dungargarh area on Sunday afternoon.
The family was reportedly returning from Mukam, where they had visited the samadhi of Guru Jambheshwar, revered by the Bishnoi community, when the accident occurred on the national highway near Sejral Hotel at around 1 pm.
According to police, seven people were travelling in the Haryana-registered car. The impact of the collision left the vehicle mangled. Four occupants died on the spot, while two others succumbed to injuries later. The injured girl was initially taken to Shri Dungargarh Community Health Centre and later referred to PBM Hospital in Bikaner.
SHO Kashyap Singh told HT that one of the deceased had been identified as Om Prakash. Police were working to establish the identities of the remaining victims.
Circle Officer Niket Pareek said, "Preliminary information indicated that all the victims belonged to the same family from Fatehabad."
Police said the deceased included three men, two women and a girl.
Following the accident, local residents joined police personnel in a rescue operation to pull the occupants from the wreckage.
The bodies were shifted to Shri Dungargarh CHC, where post-mortem procedures were being initiated. Further details regarding the victims were awaited till the filing of this report....
