Bikaner, Sept. 6 -- Six inmates escaped from a juvenile observation home on Gajner Road in Bikaner after allegedly breaking the lock on its main gate, officials said. An FIR was registered nearly 20 hours after the incident against three of the escapees, who have since turned 18, and two security guards accused of negligence. The FIR was registered at Sadar police station on a complaint lodged by observation home welfare officer Rajesh Chaudhary. It names Dishu, a resident of Ghaziabad; Rakesh of Panchu in Bikaner; and Prithviraj of Kolayat in Bikaner, along with security guards Mohammad Harun and Firoz. The case has been registered under Sections 262, 137(2) and 263 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, according to the FIR. The inmates escaped around 11pm on September 3, when Harun and Firoz were on duty. According to the complaint, the guards left the institution with the lock and a bunch of keys belonging to the main gate. Their alleged negligence enabled the six inmates to escape, the complaint said. Three of the escapees - Dishu, Rakesh and Prithviraj - have attained the age of 18, while the other three are minors. The identities of the minors have not been disclosed. Police have launched a search for all six and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the escape and the alleged security lapse.
