Bharatpur, July 7 -- A 55-year-old farmer lost an arm after he was attacked by a crocodile and dragged into the Chambal River in Karauli district on Sunday, officials said on Monday. The incident occurred around 2.30 pm at Dhoosai Ghat in Karanpur. The victim, identified as Puran Meena from Dhoosai village had taken his goats to the river for water. Officials said Meena was filling water when a crocodile suddenly attacked him. Recalling the ordeal, Meena said the reptile pulled him about 30-40 feet into the river, but he refused to give up. During the struggle, his left hand reached the crocodile's eye, and he repeatedly struck it while shouting for help. "I kept hitting its eye with all my strength and screamed for help," Meena said. His cries were heard by two villagers who rushed to the spot and helped rescue him. Meena was rushed to Karanpur Hospital, where he was later referred to the district hospital....
