4 u.p. cyber crime personnel held in bribery case
JAIPUR, Aug. 19 -- The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested four police personnel from the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.2.8 lakh from a person in exchange for dropping the name of the latter's brother from a case.
The arrested personnel have been identified as sub-inspector Yashwant Singh, constables Pawan Tripathi, Sohanlal and Gaurav Charg.
According to ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta, the complainant approached the bureau alleging that the police personnel were demanding a bribe in connection with a case registered against his brother.
The ACB verified the bribe demand on August 17. During the verification, constable Gaurav Charg allegedly demanded Rs.4 lakh from the complainant. Following negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs.2.8 lakh.
After confirming the demand, the ACB conducted the trap operation on Tuesday under the supervision of Jaipur ACB Deputy Inspector General Dr Rameshwar Singh. The operation was led by Sikar ACB Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar, with Police Inspector Subhash Meel and his team.
During the operation, constable Sohanlal allegedly accepted Rs.2.8 lakh from the complainant in the presence of SI Singh, Tripathi and Charg.
The ACB team subsequently arrested all four police personnel on Tuesday....
