4 of family killed as speeding truck runs them over on Jaipur bypass
Jaipur, July 8 -- Four members of a family, including a father and his three children, were killed after an out-of-control truck rammed into them on Jaipur's 200-Feet Bypass on Tuesday morning. The victims were standing by the roadside when the speeding vehicle broke through an iron safety railing and struck them. The children's mother sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Chandra Prakash (38) and his three children. His wife, Kailashi, remains in critical condition. According to police, the impact of the collision was so severe that the three children died on the spot, while Chandra Prakash later succumbed to his injuries. The front portion of the truck was extensively damaged in the crash.
Police said the speeding truck lost control, breached the roadside safety barrier and ploughed into the family, triggering panic in the area. On receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Shyam Nagar police station, along with ambulance and rescue teams, rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.
According to police, the family lived in the Gandhi Path area of Vaishali Nagar. They earned their livelihood by working as daily-wage labourers and selling toys, balloons, brooms and other small household items at traffic signals. Police said the couple had five children. Three of them died in the accident.
Sub-Inspector Ramesh of the Shyam Nagar police station said the truck has been seized, while the driver fled the scene after the accident. A search has been launched to trace and arrest the absconding driver. Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to establish the sequence of events and identify the driver at the earliest....
