4 killed as pickup truck rams tree in udaipur: cops
Udaipur, March 2 -- At least four people, including a child, were killed and 30 others were injured when a pickup vehicle rammed into a roadside tree on Sunday morning near Majawad on the Gogunda-Jhadol highway in Udaipur district, police said.
According to witnesses, more than 50 people were travelling in the pickup vehicle, with a large number of women and children on board. The impact of the collision was so severe that several passengers were thrown out of the vehicle, while some fell into a nearby ditch.
Deputy superintendent of police Gopal Chandel said that three people died on the spot while one more died during treatment at the hospital. The deceased were identified as Lakhamaram Gameti, Nemichand Gameti, Pankaj Gameti and Rupa, residents of Modwa village.
Chandel said "All injured persons were shifted to Gogunda Hospital with the assistance of ambulances and private vehicles".
12 of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, they were referred to the MB government Hospital at Udaipur for advanced care, Chandel added....
