372k tonnes urea stock in state; 24 FIRs filed over fertiliser gaps
Jaipur, Oct. 8 -- Rajasthan has 372,000 metric tonnes of urea in stock ahead of the rabi sowing season, as the state government has stepped up monitoring of fertiliser distribution amid concerns over hoarding, black-marketing and diversion, with 24 FIRs registered and 118 fertiliser licences suspended or cancelled.
The agriculture department has inspected 12,362 fertiliser sale premises as part of its enforcement drives. Besides the FIRs, 115 licences have been suspended and three cancelled, while 1,223 bags of fertilisers were seized in cases of diversion.
A total of 8,533 bags of urea, DAP, NPK, SSP and other fertilisers have been seized under quality-control action, officials said.
The government is currently running a special quality-control campaign from September 10 to October 15, under which inspections, seizures, sampling and checks on fertiliser diversion are being carried out.
The state currently also has 106,000 tonnes of DAP, 97,000 tonnes of NPK and 208,000 tonnes of SSP in stock, according to the agriculture department.
Officials said districts and blocks with relatively low availability and high consumption were being identified and supplied on priority according to demand. For October, the Centre has allocated 460,000 tonnes of urea to Rajasthan. htc...
