30-year-old dies after caesarean delivery at Kota govt hospital
Jaipur/Kota, Oct. 19 -- A 30-year-old woman died after a caesarean delivery at the New Medical College Hospital in Rajasthan's Kota on Saturday, her family said.
Roshan Bairwa, a resident of Baran district, died during treatment after her condition deteriorated following the delivery, her husband Mahendra, said.
"She developed severe abdominal pain and an accumulation of blood in her abdomen, and was admitted to the intensive care unit. When her condition failed to improve, doctors performed a second surgery, but she could not be saved," Mahendra said.
Hospital superintendent Dr Ashutosh Sharma said the woman had earlier been treated at private hospitals in Baran and Kota. Her family brought her to the New Medical College Hospital at 8 pm on Friday. "She was a high-risk patient with anaemia and weighed only 39-40kg. This was her third pregnancy."
Sharma said Roshan underwent a caesarean delivery on Friday night and began bleeding after childbirth. She was given one unit of blood. "When the bleeding did not stop, she was taken to the operation theatre. However, the bleeding persisted, and she died on Saturday."
According to the hospital administration, the family declined a post-mortem exam and submitted a written undertaking stating that they did not wish to pursue any action. htc...
