3 women killed as soil caves in at work site
Jaipur, June 12 -- Three women labourers were killed after a mound of soil caved in at a construction site on Gandhi Path in Jaipur on Thursday, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4 pm when basement excavation work was underway at an under-construction building. During the digging process, a large portion of soil suddenly collapsed, trapping three women labourers working at the site beneath the debris.
With the help of labourers and locals, the three women were pulled out and rushed to SMS Hospital. Doctors made all possible efforts, including administering CPR, but failed to save them. They were later declared dead, police said, adding that the deceased were identified as Sunita Devi (29), Anti Kumari (18) and Pratibha Kumari (21).
Police officers said they are examining whether safety norms were being followed during the construction work. Investigators are also questioning those associated with the project to determine the exact cause of the collapse. Further action will be taken after completion of the investigation, police said.
Karni Vihar SHO Hawa Singh said, "The matter is being investigated and all aspects related to safety compliance and the circumstances leading to the accident are under scrutiny."...
