3 more held in Sikar RGHS fraud case
Jaipur, June 14 -- The Rajasthan Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested three more accused in the alleged multi-crore fraud involving the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) in Sikar district. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a racket that allegedly generated fake prescriptions, fabricated diagnostic reports and fraudulent claims to siphon off government funds under the state's flagship healthcare scheme.
The SOG has intensified its probe into the alleged scam, arresting three additional accused believed to be part of an organised network involved in fraudulent billing and fake medical investigations under the RGHS.
SOG additional director general Vishal Bansal said investigations have revealed that certain hospital operators, doctors and laboratory personnel allegedly exploited the RGHS system by generating fake OPD prescriptions, conducting unnecessary or fabricated tests and submitting inflated bills, causing losses worth crores of rupees to the state exchequer.
The case centres on alleged irregularities linked to a diagnostic centre in Sikar.
Investigators alleged that prescriptions for unnecessary tests were issued without examining patients or were prepared only on paper. Based on these prescriptions, fake diagnostic reports were allegedly generated and uploaded to the RGHS portal, enabling fraudulent reimbursement claims from the state government.
The case was registered by the health department at the SOG police station. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Inspector General Ajay Lamba, Deputy Inspector General Bhavan Bhushan Yadav and Superintendent of Police Kundan Kanwaria.
Earlier, laboratory operator Banwari Lal and Dr Kamal Kumar Agrawal were arrested on May 4 and remain in judicial custody. During further investigation, the SOG examined the role of laboratory staff and found evidence suggesting that employees collected RGHS card details from beneficiaries and arranged for fake consultation slips to be generated from SK Hospital. Prescriptions carrying pre-decided diagnostic tests were allegedly routed through doctors and then used to prepare fabricated test reports, which were uploaded on the RGHS portal to claim payments illegally.
The three accused were produced before a court on Friday and remanded to police custody until June 16....
