Jaipur, June 29 -- Three minors have been apprehended in connection with the murder of a 10-year-old boy in their neighbourhood, whose body was found in Jaipur's Muhana area earlier this week, police said on Sunday, adding that the victim had allegedly made an offensive remark against the accused's sister. According to police, the body of the child was recovered on June 25 from a drain near a water tank in Kaishyawala village. The skull was found a short distance away. Investigators clarified that the head had become separated from the body due to severe decomposition after the body remained in the open for nearly 10 days. Police immediately began the process of identifying the body and found that it belonged to a child whose kidnapping case had been registered at Muhana police station on June 14 after he went missing. Muhana station house officer (SHO) Guru Bhupendra said "The child had gone missing on June 14, following which a kidnapping case was registered and an investigation was launched. On June 25 at around 4 pm, police received information from local residents about a foul smell emanating from the area, prompting officers to search the spot, where they recovered the body." "The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition, making facial identification impossible. Family members identified the child by his clothes," he said. Police said the case initially appeared to be a blind murder. During the investigation, officers analysed the modus operandi and possible escape routes, questioned around 150 suspects and examined footage from nearly 200 CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas. Based on the investigation, suspicion fell on the three boys - two 11-year-olds and a 13-year-old - who were apprehended on Saturday. Deputy commissioner of police (South) Rajarshi Raj Verma said the accused had allegedly been planning the crime for several days. "On the day of the incident, when the child stepped out for some work, the three minors intercepted him. They first strangled him with a scarf and then attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon before abandoning the body at the spot," Verma said. According to police, the victim, hailing from Darbhanga in Bihar, had been missing since June 14. Police said the motive behind the murder was an alleged offensive remark made by the victim to the sister of one of the accused a few days before the incident. The deceased was originally from Darbhanga in Bihar. His family had moved to Jaipur in search of work....
