Jaipur/JODHPUR, Aug. 24 -- Three children from the same extended family died after falling into a water tank in a field in Jodhpur district on Sunday, police said. The incident took place in a field near Chowkidar Ki Dhani on the outskirts of Chaukadi village. Police and NDRF teams reached the scene and started a rescue operation. After considerable effort, the three children were pulled out of the water tank, but could not be saved. Borunda Station House Officer Sujanaram Bishnoi identified the deceased as Praveen, 8; Rekha, 16; and Suman, 12. The circumstances under which the three children fell into the tank were yet to be ascertained. Police have started an investigation to establish the sequence of events leading to the incident. The bodies were taken to the government hospital in Pipar City, where post-mortem examinations were being conducted.
