3 hotels razed after gang rape of 11-yr-old in Sri Ganganagar
Bikaner, July 2 -- The Sri Ganganagar district administration on Wednesday demolished three hotels allegedly linked to the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl, officials said.
Additional superintendent of police Dipak Kumar Sharma said that the pre-dawn demolition drive targeted Hotel Khungar, Joy Inn and Hotel Sapphire. The operation began around 3.30 am under heavy police deployment and was carried out in the presence of senior police and civil administration officials, he said. "With the arrest of one more accused today, total 15 people have been arrested in connection with the case so far and the investigation is continuing," Sharma said. He added that action would be taken against anyone found involved during the course of the probe.
District collector Amit Yadav said, "The demolition was carried out after the administration found that portions of the three hotels had encroached on government land and parts of the buildings had been constructed without the required permissions."
Yadav added that the hotels had also come under scrutiny following allegations of illegal activities, while the criminal investigation into the case was continuing separately.
The case came to light on June 22 after police rescued the minor during a raid on one of the hotels in Sri Ganganagar.
Investigators said that the victim was allegedly illegally confined at the premises. According to the FIR, several hotel owners and operators were involved in the exploitation of the minor. The victim also alleged that she was forced to consume alcohol whenever she experienced pain from the repeated assaults.
Police have also alleged that the hotel operator and manager facilitated the crime, while the victim told investigators that a rickshaw driver had sold her to the hotel operators. The rickshaw driver is among those arrested in the case. Further probe is underway, police said....
