Jaipur, Sept. 10 -- Udaipur police have arrested three alleged members of an interstate burglary gang in connection with the theft of jewellery and cash worth nearly Rs.1 crore from Naveen Jewellers in Panchavati, officials said on Wednesday. Police identified the accused as alleged gang leader Anand alias Kukadia Verma, 26, Dhanpal alias Dhandhu Verma, 24, and Guddu Rathod, 27, all residents of Uttar Pradesh's Agra. Based on information provided by the accused, police recovered gold, silver and diamond jewellery worth around Rs.60 lakh. The valuables had allegedly been buried in pits dug in fields in the Chambal ravines. The burglary took place on the night of July 29.The total value of the stolen goods was estimated at around Rs.1 crore. According to investigators, Anand and absconding accused Manoj arrived in Udaipur around two months before the burglary posing as labourers and conducted reconnaissance of the showroom.
