3 detained for murder of life convict: police
Jaipur, Aug. 14 -- Police detained three people on Thursday in connection with the murder of an open jail inmate who was shot dead by two assailants in the Karni Vihar area a day earlier, officials said. The deceased, Gangasahaya Kumawat, was serving a life sentence for the 2018 murder of Mahendra Gurjar and was lodged at Sanganer Open Jail. Police said Gangasahaya had visited his home and was returning to the jail when he was attacked.
Jaipur West DCP Prashant Kiran, during a media briefing, said Mahendra Gurjar's son, Ayush Gurjar, had allegedly given the contract to kill Gangasahaya to his friends Sonu Rajak and Amit Rana before leaving for Nepal.
According to police, Sonu Rajak and Amit Rana conducted a recce of Gangasahaya before carrying out the murder.
The two allegedly shot him in the Karni Vihar area on Wednesday and fled the spot after the attack. Police have also detained Kanhaiya Gurjar, who is accused of facilitating the murder by providing weapons to the assailants....
