Jaipur, Aug. 5 -- Police on Tuesday handed over the body of a 22-year-old man to his family after a post-mortem, a day after he was fatally hit by a speeding SUV in Jaipur's Bhankrota area, people familiar with the matter said. The accident occurred around 5.30pm on Monday near the Ring Road, police said. ASI Anil Sharma of Bhankrota police station said the deceased, Shifan Qureshi, son of Sahjad Qureshi and a resident of Qureshi Colony in Chandpole, was replacing a truck tyre outside a puncture repair shop when the SUV lost control, hit him and then rammed into a parked truck. Police rushed Qureshi to SMS Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The SUV driver, who suffered minor injuries, was discharged after first aid at a nearby private hospital. Preliminary investigation suggested the SUV was being driven at high speed and skidded on the rain-soaked road, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Police said the vehicle had 36 pending traffic challans, most for overspeeding. The SUV has been seized and further investigation is underway....
