2 murder convicts among 3 detained for killing man at club
Jaipur, July 14 -- Two convicts and another facing trial in a high-profile murder case allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old man to death in Jaipur's Mansarovar on Sunday night, police said on Monday, adding that three of the accused were detained so far.
The victim was identified as Anu Gurjar. Manasarovar SHO Lakhan Singh Khatana said the incident took place at Ikka Club at New Aatish Market. Gurjar was allegedly stabbed multiple times after an argument between his friends and another group present escalated into violence.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Those detained were identified as Kuldeep and Rajesh Gurjar, both convicted in murder cases and sentenced to life imprisonment at Bharatpur Open Jail, and the prime accused Anuj Gurjar, facing trial for allegedly murdering a doctor couple in May 2021 and currently out on bail.
"We are looking into how they (Kuldeep and Rajesh) left Bharatpur and reached Jaipur," said Lakhana.
To be sure, police said convicts lodged at an Open Jail are allowed to leave jail premises with an escort to pursue employment, but were mandated to report back at the jail daily.
Kuldeep and Rajesh reportedly met associates at Jaipur's Pratap Nagar and arrived at the nightclub between 2 and 2.30am, said police.
All three were being questioned, said police, adding that the argument was reportedly spurred when Gurjar allegedly slapped a woman who was accompanying him at the club....
