Jaipur/Hanumangarh, Sept. 27 -- A suspected drug smuggler was arrested with 1.546 kg of heroin worth around Rs.3 crore in Hanumangarh district during a patrol on Friday, police said. The accused was identified as Ranjhu Khan, alias Ranjha (30), a resident of Udaipur Godaran in Sri Ganganagar district. Officers also seized a pistol, three live cartridges and Rs.80,000 in cash from the suspect's car during a patrol on Friday, district SP B Aditya said. The arrest was made as part of Operation Chakravyuh, the district police's campaign against drug trafficking. Aditya added that the pistol was identified as a Chinese-made .30-bore pistol. Investigators said the preliminary probe suggested that the heroin was sourced from Pakistan through Punjab by drone and was intended for distribution in Rajasthan. Police are investigating trying to identify others involved in the supply chain. Police said Khan has been named in seven previous cases registered at police stations in Sri Ganganagar district, including two under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
