New Delhi, June 26 -- The Delhi government has approved repair, upgradation and development of new facilities at 75 CM SHRI Schools, according to a statement issued by the chief minister's office on Thursday. According to the statement, the expenditure finance committee, led by CM Rekha Gupta, approved a proposal of about Rs.265 crore for the project. CM SHRI Schools are premium, state-of-the-art public schools, modelled under the Centre's PM SHRI scheme, to improve the quality of education and infrastructure. Gupta said that as part of the upgradation, school entrance gates will be redesigned to display the new CM SHRI logo. "Seepage and dampness in school buildings will be addressed through waterproofing, painting and plaster repair." Toilets and drinking water facilities will be upgraded, along with improvements in sewerage and drainage systems. The CM said ramps, tactile paths and handrails will be developed for children with special needs. CCTV system, compound lighting and sports grounds will also be upgraded. Gupta said the project will transform the appearance of school campuses. Modern outdoor galleries will be developed in playgrounds for use as outdoor classrooms, recreation spaces and for collaborative learning, she said.
