Dehradun, Sept. 21 -- Continuous learning, innovation and the ability to translate knowledge into meaningful solutions will be critical for the next generation of professionals and researchers, Harshavardhan Chitale, CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said while addressing graduating students at IIT Roorkee's Convocation 2026 on Sunday. IIT Roorkee concluded its two-day convocation with 1,424 postgraduate and doctoral students receiving degrees on the second day. The ceremony also saw the highest-ever number of PhD degrees awarded by the institute, with 518 doctoral scholars receiving their degrees. Chitale, who was the chief guest, said, "Rapid technological and industrial changes are creating new opportunities as well as complex challenges". He congratulated graduates and expressed confidence they'd contribute to industry, academia, entrepreneurship and society. The ceremony was attended by Dr Kapil Garg, Founder and Managing Director, Oilmax Energy Pvt. Ltd., and Managing Director, Asian Energy Services Ltd., as the guest of honour. Garg, an IIT Roorkee alumnus, congratulated postgraduate students and doctoral scholars and highlighted the role of advanced education and research in addressing challenges faced by industry and society.
