Dehradun, June 7 -- Days after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made a video call to the parents of the 19-year-old Pauri Garhwal receptionist, who was killed on September 2022, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday accused the Congress of exploiting the case for political mileage. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said the Congress has been trying to extract political mileage from the case from Day 1. "During the hearing, it emerged that attempts were made to malign BJP leaders through a planned campaign. The court also observed that such allegations should not be made without evidence and quashed two FIRs in the matter," said Chauhan. "The Congress and other opposition parties had been demanding a CBI investigation. However, after the recommendation for a CBI probe, the Congress has gone on the back foot and is now trying new tactics," he added. "The Congress' intentions have become clear not only in court proceedings but also before the people. The party has already been rejected by the public on this issue, and people will not forgive it for trying to politicise the case," he said. Uttarakhand Congress Committee (UKPCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said Gandhi assured the victim's family that he would stand by them in their fight for justice and that his doors would always remain open to them.htc...
