Dehradun, June 25 -- A complaint has been filed, alleging that former MLA and BJP leader Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion used casteist slurs and issued threats to his brother-in-law during a phone call, police said. Jogendra Kumar, a resident of Shantarshah in Bahadrabad, Haridwar, alleged in his complaint that on June 22, while he and his brother-in-law Sanjeev Kumar were travelling to Khedi village after attending a relative's wedding, a vehicle coming from behind allegedly hit them and then drove away. "I later came to know that the vehicle belonged to former MLA Champion. The next day, my brother-in-law received a call from the police station asking him to appear there, but he could not go as he was out of town," Kumar alleged. According to Kumar, Sanjeev subsequently received a phone call purportedly from Champion. "He abused Sanjeev, used casteist remarks and threatened him. He continues to receive threats," Kumar alleged. A video of the purported conversation is going viral on social media. HT could not independently verify the veracity of the video. Responding to the allegations, former MLA and BJP leader Champion claimed the video was fabricated using artificial intelligence to malign his image ahead of the assembly elections. "It is an AI-generated voice recording. On Tuesday, while we were passing through Laksar, our security vehicle was hit, following which we lodged a complaint with the police. Thereafter, some individuals created a video containing abusive and caste-related remarks and falsely attributed it to me," Champion said on Facebook. "This is an attempt to falsely implicate and defame me in collusion with my political opponents ahead of the elections," he added. Laksar police station in charge Praveen Singh Koshiyari said, "We have received a complaint against the former MLA. Our probe into the matter is underway."...
