Haldwani, Aug. 21 -- Around 10 armed men posing as a Special Operations Group (SOG) team allegedly stormed a commercial office in the Gora Parao area of Haldwani, held the occupants at gunpoint and looted around Rs.8 lakh in cash, gold and silver jewellery and 12 mobile phones, police said on Thursday. A police team rushed to the office on Bareilly Road after receiving information about the incident. Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the office owner and launched an investigation. According to Haldwani SP (City) Manoj Katyal, the office belongs to Narayan Das, resident of Amba Vihar. Narayan Das and his friends, Bhim Danu, Mahendra Latwal, Manoj Bisht, Sachin Singh and Ritesh, were at the office for a party late Wednesday when the alleged robbery took place. A group of around 10 unidentified men arrived at the premises in a vehicle and allegedly introduced themselves as SOG personnel, police said. They entered, pointed firearms at those present and threatened them before taking away cash, jewellery and mobile phones, police said. "The suspects took around Rs.8 lakh cash. They also allegedly fled with gold and silver rings and chains belonging to those present, besides 12 phones," Katyal said. "Five teams, including the SOG, have been deployed to identify and arrest the accused."....
