Mussoorie, June 16 -- A 27-year-old software engineer from Delhi, who was holidaying in Mussoorie with her husband, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road on Monday morning, police said. The deceased was identified as P Radha Gayatri, a resident of Shakarpur in East Delhi. She was employed with an IT company in Gurugram, while her husband, Soumya Sricharan, who she married in November 8 last year, works in Pune. According to police, the couple left Delhi on June 13 and travelled to Rishikesh before reaching Mussoorie on the night of June 14. They checked into a homestay in the Kiana Tipridhar area around 11.30 pm and retired to their room at about 3.30 am on June 15, police added. Devendra Singh Chauhan, Mussoorie police station inspector-in-charge, said the police received information about a woman in critical condition at the homestay on Monday morning. "Upon receiving information, a police team immediately rushed to the homestay and a 108 ambulance was also called. However, after the medical team examined the woman, she was declared dead," Chauhan said. Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband woke up later in the morning and found his wife unresponsive, police said. He also noticed blood oozing from her mouth and immediately raised an alarm. Police said blood stains were found inside the room, deepening the mystery surrounding the woman's sudden death. A forensic team inspected the spot and collected evidence, while investigators began examining all possible angles to ascertain the exact cause of death. Chauhan said the deceased woman's parents were on their way to Mussoorie and the postmortem examination would be conducted after their arrival. The husband's parents have already reached the town. "The room has been thoroughly examined and forensic evidence is being collected," he said. "We are investigating all aspects of the case and the exact cause of death will be known only after the postmortem report and forensic analysis," he added.
