India, Sept. 25 -- A ctor Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub is still taking in the news of Real Kashmir Football Club earning an International Emmy nomination. "I'm still absorbing the news. I knew that we had filed the nomination, but select ho jaegi yeh nahi pata tha. Even though this series is beautifully made, this news is a huge honour," he says. For the 42-year-old, the recognition is especially meaningful because the team never made the series with awards in mind. "Even if Emmy's nomination hadn't happened, we were actually proud of this one," he says, adding that the show's biggest strength was presenting Kashmir beyond the familiar lens of violence and terrorism. "This is the first time that Kashmir is being shown through a different lens... This is a true story of Kashmir," says Ayyub, who admits the series did not reach as wide an audience as the team had hoped. The nomination, however, has strengthened his belief in such stories. "This recognition has given me the much-needed confidence," he says, adding, "I think we are changing how the world sees us now. People are recognising India in a different light. I think we are on par with any cinema in that sense."...
