When Sneha Ullal 'apologised' to Aishwarya Rai
India, March 18 -- Actor Sneha Ullal gained public attention even before her debut at 17 in Lucky: No Time for Love (2005) opposite Salman Khan. At the time, she made headlines for her resemblance to former beauty queen, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Now, Sneha has said that the comparisons never bothered her, since that's how she was known in her own circle too. "When Aishwarya Rai became Miss World (in 1994), I was becoming Miss World in my small world because a lot of people used to tell me that I look like her," she told AlphaNeon Studioz.
The 38-year-old added that some of the chatter around the movie was also due to Salman and Aishwarya's old relationship: "Obviously, I was coming with Salman Khan, so people will recognise me like that, but it never bothered me because I was very young, and I had no ego."
Sneha also revealed that she apologised to Aishwarya, 52, for the comparisons. "I met Aishwarya once, and she said, 'Welcome to the family. Welcome to Bollywood'. I told her, 'I'm sorry, please don't hate me'. There was so much comparison in the media at that time, I didn't know if she took offence."
The actor later went on to feature in Telugu films, including Ullasamga Utsahamga (2008) and Simha (2010). However, she added that she had never been interested in joining the film industry. "Many people had approached me before to become an actor, but I was not interested in it. I have been a tomboy, and I'm not glamorous," she said.htc...
