India, Sept. 24 -- Mirabai Chanu ended India's 28-year wait for an Asian Games weightlifting medal on Wednesday, winning silver in the women's 49kg event at Aichi-Nagoya. It was also the 32-year-old's first Asiad medal, after previous appearances in 2014 and 2022. Chanu lifted a total of 198kg, including 87kg in snatch and 111kg in clean and jerk, to finish second.
