India, July 19 -- India's first privately developed orbital-class rocket, Vikram-1, lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 12.05pm on Saturday. Built by Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace, the 22-metre rocket placed multiple payloads into a 450km Low Earth Orbit during Mission Aagaman. Alongside commercial and technology payloads, it carried a handwritten "Vande Mataram" postcard from PM Narendra Modi, messages from engineers, scientists and Indian astronauts, an 18-karat gold miniature rocket and Cosmic Bloom (right), billed as the first diamond sent into space. It also carried micro-art sculptures of space and science pioneers Dr Vikram Sarabhai, Sir CV Raman and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam (right)....
