The print is back, and it's taking over the runway
India, May 17 -- Once popular in the late '90s and early 2000s, newspaper print is back in fashion. The motif returned to the runway at Dior Cruise 2027 in Los Angeles this week and Chanel's Cruise 2027 showcase in Biarritz, France, last month - this time in a new avatar.
At Dior, the revival came with a dose of nostalgia. Under the direction of creative director Jonathan Anderson, the house reintroduced the iconic Christian Dior Daily motif, first imagined by John Galliano for the Autumn/Winter 2000 collection. The luxury fashion house featured bags on the runway with headline-style typography that instantly evoked fashion memories. Chanel, meanwhile, approached it differently. In its Cruise 2027 show, creative director Matthieu Blazy wove the print into dresses on the runway.
Together, the shows have reignited conversations around one of fashion's most recognisable prints, and its return seems well worth the attention....
