he broadcast drama is finally over. After months of uncertainty, Indian audiences now know they will be able to watch all 104 FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, thanks to a last-minute broadcasting rights deal. With the tournament kicking off on June 11, attention has swiftly shifted to viewing plans. While streaming remains an option, many fans prefer to catch the action with fellow supporters. Across cities, pubs and bars are gearing up for football fever. "While not every FIFA match falls into a convenient viewing slot for Indian audiences, the passion for football remains strong," says Rahul Singh, owner of Beer Cafe, which plans curated rerun screenings, highlights and special WC offers across its outlets.
In Pune, venues are planning late-night screenings to cater to die-hard fans. "We have screenings and for the big matches, we'll also be staying open till late to make sure fans don't have to miss a minute of the action. We know how much a live screening environment adds to the experience," says Pranav Trehan, co-founder of Aufside Cafe.
Mumbai venues, too, are gearing up for football fever. "Yes, we are keeping match screenings for sure. If needed for select matches, we will also be extending the working hours seeing that we are normally open until 1.30 every night," says Janesh, owner of Callisto Bistro Bar....
