India, July 8 -- Zardozi, an age-old embroidery technique, is back in the spotlight amid renewed discussions around its origins. The debate gained traction after veteran designer Ritu Kumar, in an interview on The Masoom Minawala Show, recalled coining the term 'zardozi' while naming one of her collections in the 1980s. Fashion and history enthusiasts, however, pointed to archival records documenting the word as early as 1866.
