Sudden fan intrusions leave singers shaken, reignite debate over concert safety
India, May 13 -- On Monday, singer Sonu Nigam warned fans against rushing onto concert stages after a man abruptly climbed on stage during his recent performance in Kolhapur to touch his feet. While security personnel rushed to intervene, Sonu calmed the situation and even allowed the fan to sing briefly with him before he was escorted away.
The singer shared a video of the incident on social media and cautioned audiences against such behaviour. "'Kyon pitne vaale kaam karte ho audience?' Is baar toh bachaa liya, har baar nahi bacha paunga," he wrote. Videos from the concert showed Sonu appearing visibly uncomfortable during the interruption before resuming the performance.
The incident has once again drawn attention to security concerns at live concerts, with several performers facing similar situations in recent months. Earlier this month, singer Jasmin Sandlas was left startled during a concert in Melbourne after a fan allegedly attempted to grab her by the waist before security intervened.
Meanwhile, legendary guitarist Eric Clapton reportedly cut short his Madrid concert on May 7 after an object thrown from the crowd hit him during the performance. A statement later issued on his official fan website urged audiences not to throw objects at performers.
