Riyan Parag under fire for vaping during IPL match
India, April 30 -- Rajasthan Royals (RR) ended Punjab Kings' (PBKS) winning streak on Tuesday, but the spotlight immediately shifted away from the match to cricketer Riyan Parag. Despite the win in New Chandigarh, the RR skipper sparked controversy after cameras caught him vaping in the dressing room, with the clip quickly going viral on social media.
The 24-year-old's actions have now put him in a spot of trouble. As per BCCI guidelines, smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited within IPL stadium premises, except in designated zones. The issue is further complicated by the legal status of e-cigarettes in India. Under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA), 2019, the production, sale, purchase, import, export and advertisement of e-cigarettes and vapes are banned. Violations can invite strict penalties, including imprisonment and hefty fines.
On Wednesday, a BCCI official told The Indian Express, "We will be seeking an explanation from Riyan on this issue, as vaping is not allowed. Depending on his explanation, the IPL will take further course of action." HTC...
