Riteish's sons are so cultured: Amole Gupte
India, May 23 -- Working with children has always been fun for actor and filmmaker Amole Gupte, fondly known as Froggie Uncle off camera. But on the sets of Raja Shivaji, he developed a special bond unlike any other with Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh's sons. Riaan (11) and Rahyl (9) made their debut with dad's Marathi period drama earlier this month.
"With Rahyl and Riaan, our special bond was a cute shock for me after so many years," shares Amole, who plays Mohammed Adil Shah in the film. Describing the star kids, the filmmaker says, "The two boys are so cultured, they know the entire Ganpati Aarti, shlokas and various mantras. So, there is a certain rootedness in Genelia and Riteish's boys, which is amazing. They are very good." Amole added that their interaction felt no less than a picnic.
The 64-year-old explains, "We were not working. This was neither some official mentorship nor a Mukesh Chhabra (casting director) workshop. It was simply about spending chhutti ka divas, like Saturday or Sunday, depending on the children's calendar. Come, sit, eat jilbis (Marathi for jalebi) and samosas, have fun, and in the meantime, run through some lines from the film script. It was in my own way and style. Children teach me the informality of life. Adults make everything too formal for my liking."
In Raja Shivaji, other thanco-writing and directing, Riteish also portrays Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His sons Riaan and Rahyl, meanwhile, play Shivaji at different ages....
