India, Aug. 13 -- E ven before its release, Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, has faced online criticism over the visual effects seen in its trailer (released last month). Now, speaking to US entertainment publication Collider during the film's promotions in the US, Kapoor has responded to the backlash. He said audiences have increasingly become "CG critics", scrutinising computer-generated imagery (CGI) and visual effects (VFX) even from trailers. "They see a trailer and they are always critiquing that it's not good enough or it's seeming like it's not done," he said. Director Nitesh Tiwari added that some VFX sequences have taken nearly three years to complete. Kapoor also said the rise of AI has changed perceptions around such work. "People who don't know how CG is done think like someone's just used some AI and released something," he said, adding that artistes have spent "countless hours" on the film and that Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra have worked on details "even [down to] the colour of the sky".
