Osaka calls for influencer 'etiquette' at US Open
India, Sept. 5 -- Amid backlash over the growing influencer presence at the 2026 US Open, four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, on Thursday during a post-match conference, said expanding tennis' audience is positive, but "it has to be managed a lot better".
She urged spectators to "read up on the sport" and know its rules and etiquette. Osaka said, "Today, the umpire told everyone to be quiet; more than I've ever heard," adding, "There was a moment where there was people shouting and stuff, and you could hear it quite clearly...It bothered my opponent, too."
Earlier, US' Jessica Pegula also called some influencers' behaviour "a bit disrespectful."htc...
