India, Sept. 5 -- Amid backlash over the growing influencer presence at the 2026 US Open, four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, on Thursday during a post-match conference, said expanding tennis' audience is positive, but "it has to be managed a lot better". She urged spectators to "read up on the sport" and know its rules and etiquette. Osaka said, "Today, the umpire told everyone to be quiet; more than I've ever heard," adding, "There was a moment where there was people shouting and stuff, and you could hear it quite clearly...It bothered my opponent, too."
