India, July 4 -- For the first time, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali has addressed the long-standing controversy surrounding her father, veteran actor Sanjay Khan's relationship with actor Zeenat Aman in the 1970s. In an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani, she acknowledged that Sanjay's link with Zeenat strained his marriage to his wife Zarine Katrak Khan but strongly denied allegations that he physically assaulted the actor. "This fake story... about my father beating Zeenat Aman and her eye getting hurt, that's all hogwash because my father hasn't raised his hand on my mother or any of his daughters. He is not a violent man... My mother told me my father never raised his hand on Zeenat Aman," she said. Farah also dismissed rumours that her mother ever confronted or fought with Zeenat. "Do you actually think my mother would get into a fight with any other woman and beat her? No... Even when she spoke to us about it, she told us, 'your father was attracted to her, so I just don't blame her'. There was an attraction on both sides. Maybe at that point, there was something wrong with their marriage. But I do believe when she said that my father did not beat her." Speaking about Sanjay's alleged marriage to Zeenat, Farah confirmed the reports, saying, "Yes, he had at that point (married her)." She added that the marriage was short-lived and ended in divorce. "There was a Muslim way of getting married, and he divorced her the Muslim way as well," she said.
