Move over Paul, meet Billy the cat, FIFA's new pundit
India, June 26 -- With football fever sweeping the globe amid the ongoing FIFA World Cup, a one-year-old cat named Billy has become an internet sensation for his match predictions.
Billy, who lives in Northern Ireland with owners Linka Lin and Mark Kelly, was rescued from an animal shelter at just three months old.
Before each game, Billy is presented with two miniature national flags representing the competing teams. The flag he taps with his paw becomes his prediction. He amazed social media users by correctly predicting 21 of his first 22 matches (excluding draws), including Argentina's victory over Austria. His impressive streak ended when he got the South Korea vs South Africa match wrong.
Billy is drawing comparisons to Paul the Octopus, the famous 'oracle' of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Paul became a global phenomenon by choosing food from boxes decorated with team flags, correctly predicting 8 out of 8 matches, including Spain winning the finals.HTC...
