India, Aug. 25 -- Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has become one of the most talked-about IAS officers in the country following his surprise inspections and raids on food establishments across the state. His strict action has even led social media users to compare him to actor Anil Kapoor's role in Nayak (2001). Amid the crackdown, filmmaker Kunal Kohli, known for Hum Tum (2004) and Fanaa (2006) made a light-hearted suggestion: Mundhe should also inspect kitchens in Indian households, where expired food products are often left untouched for years. Sharing a message on Instagram Stories, Kohli wrote: "I request Tukaram Munde to raid kitchen shelves & refrigerators in Indian households across the country. There will be expired items from years ago, neatly & safely preserved." He pointed out that people often clean and wipe old bottles and packets regularly, but never actually use or discard them. Kohli then encouraged people to conduct their own 'Tukaram Mundhe cleaning' and check their kitchen shelves and refrigerators for expired products. His post comes amid the Maharashtra FDA's ongoing inspections of restaurants, hotels and other food outlets, with several Mumbai eateries facing action, including licence suspensions, over food-safety violations. Mundhe's crackdown has also won praise from celebrities including Rakesh Bedi, Daisy Shah and Devoleena Bhattacharjee, while Paresh Rawal urged CM Devendra Fadnavis to protect the officer from being transferred.
