India, Aug. 27 -- J ewellery brand GIVA has withdrawn its Raksha Bandhan campaign featuring actor Kriti Sanon after it sparked a social media row over her revealing outfit and the way the festival was portrayed. Actor-MP Kangana Ranaut also weighed in without naming Kriti directly, questioning the styling and calling the advertisement "intentionally creepy". The campaign had additionally drawn attention for extending the rakhi ritual to a pet dog. Kriti had responded to the criticism on Tuesday, saying the essence of festivals lies in "the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions", rather than clothes. She also questioned why a woman's respect for culture continues to be judged by what she wears. Defending the pet rakhi, Kriti had said pets are family too, adding that she and her sister also tie rakhi to each other as a promise of protection. On Wednesday, GIVA said it had withdrawn the campaign from all media. The brand said it had "the highest regard and deep respect for Indian culture, traditions and festivals", adding that any hurt caused had been unintended. HTC...
