India, July 25 -- Actor Johnny Depp surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, appearing in his new character, Scrooge's costume from his upcoming film Ebenezer. Dressed in a long overcoat and top hat, Depp looked almost unrecognisable with bushy eyebrows, patchy grey facial hair and long sideburns. Staying in character through the entire time, he emerged from a themed installation and interacted with the crowd. When fans greeted him with, "Good day to you, Mr Scrooge," Depp shot back in Scrooge's gruff style, saying, "What's so good about it?" He also playfully mocked Comic-Con attendees, asking, "Do you have jobs? It seems as though you have so much spare time. Why are you here?" Before retreating inside, he quipped, "I can only say you're all very strange people. Humbug!" The surprise appearance coincided with the makers unveiling the film's first poster and the release date of the Ti West-directed film on Instagram. They wrote: "The name you know. The story you don't. @johnnydepp is Ebenezer Scrooge in #EbenezerMovie - only in theatres November 13." The film is a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
