I hadn't found the right match till 60: Lagaan actor Suhasini
India, June 20 -- Actor Suhasini Mulay, best known for playing Aamir Khan's mother in Lagaan (2001), has often candidly spoken about finding love at 60. Now, at 75, she has once again opened up about tying the knot at such a late stage in her life.
"I married for the first time at the age of 60. Until then, I hadn't found the right match. My husband (Atul Gurtu, 80) is a very well-known scientist. He is a wonderful human being," she said in a conversation on the Youtube channel Suhana Safar.
The National Award-winning actor, who married in 2011, also shared why, despite meeting many men over the years, she remained unmarried for so long. "Mujhe kisi mein lambi race ka ghoda nahin dikha... Kandhe se kandhe milane wala mujhe koi mila nahin," she revealed. Reiterating a view she has expressed before, the actor shared that she made a list of qualities she was unwilling to compromise on. She also added that equality was the most important requirement she sought in her marriage.
Suhasini and Atul's story began online in 2010 after she joined Facebook at a friend's suggestion. She came across Atul's profile and struck up a conversation out of curiosity about his work in particle physics. Within 75 days of their first meeting, they were married.
Suhasini has had a distinguished career across films, television and documentaries and is known for her work in Assamese, Hindi, and Marathi industries.
