India, Sept. 25 -- Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, 74, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in New York on Wednesday for sexually assaulting former television production assistant Miriam Haley at his Manhattan apartment in 2006. The sentence comes after his 2020 conviction and 23-year prison term were overturned by New York's highest court in 2024. A retrial last year again found him guilty of a first-degree criminal sex act involving Haley. Addressing the court before sentencing, Haley said the assault had had "a devastating effect on my life and sense of security that may never go away", adding, "It's a life sentence for me." Weinstein, appearing in a wheelchair, maintained his innocence.
