India, Aug. 26 -- The news of two Delhi University students getting harassed while going to their PG on Monday has once again put the spotlight on women's safety. This incident comes on the heels of Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) president Aryan Mann's recent statement on a podcast, saying girls can roam freely due to the DUSU ensuring women's safety on campus. With the DUSU polls on September 18, students are asking for greater accountability and not just promises made as part of campaigning. Sanya Mitra, first-year student of Kirori Mal College, says, "If a group can follow two girls across this entire stretch in Campus, it makes me question how safe it is for me." Addressing the concern, Mann calls the harassment a one-off incident. He tells us, "We reported the accused to police, and they were taken into custody. They are not DU students. We are taking their presence on campus, especially during election season, seriously to ensure such incidents don't happen again."...
