India, Sept. 13 -- Yash Dabas, 21, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's (ABVP) candidate, says student leadership should be about listening to students rather than waiting for them to approach their leaders. A first-year MA Buddhist Studies student at DU's Faculty of Arts, Dabas has made student grievances a key part of his campaign. "I want to lead with a listen-first ideology," he shares. While campaigning across colleges, Dabas says he collected students' complaints in writing and used them to prepare his manifesto: "What do the students want? I want to first understand that, then take action." Women's safety on the campus is another priority for him. Dabas says he wants to make DU's approach to women's safety more robust and proactive. He shares,"Female students should not fear returning home after college or commuting through campus late in the evening, especially while attending college events or cultural fests."...
